From the airport to Riga.
A practical guide to bus 22, the night bus, taxis and your onward journey.
Facts checked on 1 November 2026. Check the operator for changes before travelling.
Bus 22 · the simplest budget option
About 40 minutes to central Riga. Buy a 90-minute ticket in advance for €1.50, or a single bus-22 ticket from the driver for €1.81 by bank card only.
- 1
Find the stop
Leave Arrivals C or E and follow signs to public transport in car park P1. The stop is between the two exits. From the airport, take bus 22 towards Abrenes iela.
- 2
Buy your ticket
Use a ticket machine at the stop, Narvesen in the terminal, or a supported app such as Rīgas satiksme or Mobilly. Buying from the driver is an option on bus 22; cash is not accepted for that ticket.
- 3
Validate when boarding
Register your ticket immediately after boarding and again on each vehicle when changing. The 90-minute ticket allows transfers on Rīgas satiksme services within its validity.
- 4
Choose your central stop
For the bus station, market and onward trains, Autoosta is a useful stop; the central railway station is a walk away. For Old Town, check the current stop and walking route in the official timetable.

Taxi or an app-based ride
Allow roughly 20 minutes in normal traffic; congestion can add time. Licensed airport taxis include XTaxi, TaxiLV and Red Cab. Compare the tariff on the vehicle and confirm your destination and any extra charges before setting off.
For Bolt, order in the app and go to the marked pickup area in P1. Check the registration number and the exact pickup point in the app. Self-service Bolt screens at Arrivals C and E offer another way to book with a phone number and bank-card payment.
A prepaid airport taxi voucher costs €33.50. It covers one trip without intermediate stops within the specified central zone, for up to four passengers; luggage must fit the vehicle. Buy it at the Visitor Centre in Arrivals E and confirm that your address is included.
Airport taxis and voucher ↗Going back to the airport
Take bus 22 towards Lidosta “Rīga”. Central boarding stops can include Centrālā stacija, 13.janvāra iela or Grēcinieku iela; stops differ by direction. Plan from your actual address and allow time for traffic, finding the terminal and your airline’s check-in requirements.
Luggage, accessibility and onward travel
- RIX lists bus 22 as a low-floor service. For mobility assistance, use the airport’s official PRM information and contact your airline in advance.
- For a taxi with children, substantial luggage or mobility equipment, select and confirm the suitable vehicle and equipment before booking.
- For a train journey beyond Riga, first reach the central railway station. The airport terminal is not served by a direct regular passenger train.
Find your way.
